OICR welcomes Dr. Nicole Onetto as its Deputy Director

I am delighted to announce the appointment of Dr. Nicole Onetto to the position of Deputy Director commencing November 2, 2009.

Dr. Onetto completed her MD at the University of Paris, and her M.Sc. at the University of Montreal. Her residency and fellowships were at the Universities of Paris and Montreal in pediatrics and pediatric hematology/oncology. She has had extensive and progressive pharmaceutical industry experience over the past several years. She has held positions at Hoeschst Canada Inc in Montreal, Immunex in Washington, Bristol-Myers Squibb, NeXstar Pharmaceuticals, Gilead Sciences and OSI Pharmaceuticals in Colorado, where she led the clinical development of Tarceva for non-small cell lung cancer and pancreatic cancer in collaboration with the NCIC. Most recently she was Senior Vice-President, Product Development and Chief Medical Officer of ZymoGenetics in Seattle, Washington.

Dr. Onetto will replace Dr. Bob Phillips who will retire this fall. We sincerely thank Dr. Phillips for his outstanding leadership, dedication and support of the Institute and the preceding organization, the Ontario Cancer Research Network, over the past several years. She was also the international project leader for Taxol®.
