Pathology Validation Platform
Goals
To develop software registration of 3D Pathology with 3D Imaging in order to validate 3D CT, ultrasound and/or MR imaging against interactive three-dimensional gold-standard histopathology and immunohistochemistry, and new biomarkers images, for wholemount tissues/organs obtained from preclinical models and patients.
The platform at Sunnybrook Health Sciences Centre, University Health Network, and Robarts Research Institute/London Health Sciences Centre will start with in vivo imaging of new or existing probes targeting cancer (CT, US, MR), harvesting and mechanical stabilization of cancer and surrounding tissue, ex vivo imaging for registration to in vivo image, coarse slicing, gross imaging if needed, fixing/processing of tissue, sectioning (up to 13 cm x 18 cm), staining, digital microscopic acquisition of slide images, 3D image reconstruction of the slide images including corrections for distortion, interactive 3D image display and analysis, and registration with original in vivo imaging.
