Clinical Trials Support Services
The HICT Program’s Clinical Trials Support Services (CTSS) will promote excellence in cancer research and support the objectives of the HICT Program by:
- Promoting operational consistency and efficiencies;
- Providing educational opportunities.
These activities will enhance the speed and quality of cancer clinical trials, thereby providing Ontario residents with access to promising discoveries and research breakthroughs.
Promoting consistency and efficiency of clinical trials
Through the HICT program CTSS will support clinical trial professionals across the province and develop consistent standards, guidelines and improved processes. Learn more.
Providing educational opportunities
The CTSS works with Ontario clinical trials staff to provide the necessary educational tools and information to promote excellence and CTSS workshops have the added benefit of providing valuable networking opportunities. An online training program, called CITI-Canada is also being provided through collaboration with the Network of the Networks (N2). For more information contact Karen Arts at karen [dot] arts

Streamlining scientific and ethical reviews of cancer clinical trials while protecting the rights and safety of participants
The Ontario Cancer Research Ethics Board (OCREB) speeds up the start-up time for clinical trials by acting as a central Research Ethics Board, shortening the time it takes to open a trial and reducing duplication and the workload of research ethics boards at hospitals and cancer treatment centres. Find a cancer clinical trial
OICR created Ontario.CanadianCancerTrials.ca to help residents of Ontario find cancer clinical trials in their community. The website lists all cancer clinical trials in Ontario that are accepting patients and is updated daily. It contains a database that can be searched by type of cancer, drug, geographical location or keyword. Learn more.
