Translational Research Teams
Overview
Translational Research Teams (TRTs) facilitate a culture of collaboration and provide the infrastructure necessary to increase Ontario’s capacity to conduct translational research in clinical trials.
TRT awards have been provided to five Ontario centres of excellence in translational and clinical research. TRTs are composed of members with expertise for the development, organization and conduct of clinical trials with novel imaging and biospecimen collections and analyses. While compositions of the teams vary among institutions, teams contain a:
- Clinician-scientist or clinician and scientist with experience in developing and conducting clinical trials of experimental therapeutics and imaging and biospecimen translational research;
- Radiologist;
- Pathologist;
- Biostatistician;
- Research coordinator (e.g., clinical trials research nurse, translational research coordinator).
As members of the HICT Program’s governance structure, TRT Leaders will ensure proper review, development, initiation and execution of priority high impact clinical trials, plus implement best practices and standard operating procedures for trial and trial-related translational research activities.
