Dr. Martin Yaffe

Co-Program Leader, One Millimetre Cancer Challenge
Co-Platform Leader, Imaging Pipeline Platform

Program Description

Early diagnosis and detection of a tumour before it grows and spreads is critical in surviving cancer. Today, tumours are usually detected when they are over one centimetre in size, containing more than 200 million cancer cells.

OICR’s One Millimetre Cancer Challenge, co-led by Dr. Martin Yaffe and Dr. Aaron Fenster, aims to detect tumours when they are millimetre-sized, using advanced imaging and screening techniques. Through its commercialization program, OICR will move new cancer imaging tools from the laboratory to the clinic where patients can benefit from the new research.
