Amin Mawani is a Professor of Taxation and a Schulich Research Excellence Fellow at the Schulich School of Business, York University in Toronto. He is also the inaugural Director of the Master of Health Industry Administration (MHIA). His research examines the impact of taxation and tax planning on business and personal financial decisions. His research interests include the role of tax policy in promoting healthcare and determining the cost-benefit analysis of healthcare interventions.
Amin’s research has been published in the Canadian Tax Journal and the Journal of Behavioral and Experimental Finance, and op-eds published in The Globe and Mail and The Wall Street Journal. His research has been funded by the Social Sciences & Humanities Research Council and the Canadian Institute of Health Research.
Amin has served as a Director on the Boards of Financial Planning Canada, the Certified Management Accountants of BC, and the Canadian Academic Accounting Association. He currently serves on the Financial Planners Stakeholder Advisory Committee at the Financial Services Regulatory Authority of Ontario.
